Meghan Gordon

Culinary Director

Meghan GordonMeghan Rice Gordon joined our staff as Culinary Director in May of 2011.

Meghan was born and raised in Fort Walton Beach. Growing up, Meghan worked in her family’s restaurant, Magnolia Grill, where she still helps occasionally. Meghan is married to Michael Gordon, a graphic designer for Edwin Watts Golf.

While growing up in the Methodist Church, Meghan’s faith journey began after she accepted Christ at Blue Lake Camp. After 10 years of attending various camps, she continued to serve Blue Lake as a camp counselor during the summers of 2002 and 2003 where she learned much more about who she was called to be in Christ. In 2004, Meghan was on the hiring committee for that years summer staff, while also serving as the Interim Youth Director at Trinity UMC.

Meghan received her Bachelors Degree in Sociology and Communication from Auburn University in 2007. During her time at Auburn, Meghan found her place to serve the Lord and follow students at the Wesley Foundation as their Dinner Hostess, where she prepared meals for over 100 college students each week. She found the Wesley Foundation kitchen to be her mission field--it opened the door to not only teach others cooking techniques, but gave her a chance to develop deeper relationships with other students, which paved the way for meaningful discussions about Jesus Christ.

At First UMC Fort Walton Beach, Meghan was involved with the youth group as a small group leader, the children’s ministry as a Sunday School teacher and also taught the young adult class occasionally. Before coming to Niceville UMC, she was a Legislative Assistant for State Senator Don Gaetz. To serve her community, Meghan has been on three Honor Flights, taking WWII veterans to Washington D.C. to view their monument, as well as participated in Memorial Day and Veterans Day ceremonies at Beal Cemetery since 1995.

Meghan feels as though her relationship with Christ is what makes her different and set apart from many young people today; she has said "I am the salt of this earth. I am the light of this world. My life has flavor and a purpose; without Christ, I would be tasteless and dull."
