Don Kennedy
Assistant Minister of Administration
Don was born, raised, and educated in rural Nebraska and is grateful that God directed his family to move to Florida in 1984 (as there are no beaches in Nebraska and it doesn’t typically snow here). Prior to serving at Niceville UMC, Don was employed within the business community, primarily in the human resource and retail management professions for thirty-three years. He also served as the Church Business Administrator at Niceville’s Rocky Bayou Baptist Church and was self-employed as a business consultant until accepting the Assistant Minister of Administration at Niceville UMC.
Don and his wife Terri have been married since 1977 and have two adult sons; Jeremy (wife Jennifer and grandson Kingston) live in Orlando where he is owner/manager of Kenedik Graphic Design, and Joshua (with his wife Elisa) live in Denver where he leads the transportation logistics group for Staples.
Their church home since 1988 has been Rocky Bayou Baptist where Don served in many lay leadership positions including youth ministry, single adults ministry and as an ordained Deacon. His wife Terri is still very active within youth ministry (she is the oldest teenager) and also serves on the Women’s Ministry Leadership Team.
He delights in dating his wife and spending time outdoors. He is an accomplished amateur carpenter (it ain’t bragging if it’s true) and he has had the opportunity to use these skills on numerous mission trip construction projects.
After watching a close friend's life radically change because of Christ, Don became very attracted to Jesus and personally seeing for the first time the scriptures were true and accurate, came to Christ at the age of 19, admitting Jesus' great work of salvation and redemption in his life.
