| Article I | Procedure The business for this unit shall be conducted in an orderly manner according to the Constitution and By-Laws. At the discretion of the President, major issues may be decided in accordance with Robert's Rules of Order. |
| Article II | Duties of Officers A. President: Leads the UMM group and presides at all UMM meetings. Empowered by the senior pastor to make routine UMM organizational and business decisions and will accomplish that through the elected officers. Informs the staff advisor (currently Pastor Lew Wilder) of any major issues, which require his intervention or involvement. Interacts with other church committees and interest groups, as necessary, to meet the needs of UMM and the church. May be designated an ex-officio member of any committee, except the UMM Nominating Committee. He shall become familiar with the activities of the General Commission on UMM and those of the District and Conference Presidents. B. Vice President: Assists the President, accept assignments made to him, presides in the absence of the President, and becomes familiar with activities of the General Commission on UMM as well as Conference and District activities. Normally the Vice President is the main UMM point of contact for service activities. C. Secretary: Keeps minutes and records for meetings and other events. Records shall be kept in electronic and hard copy. Works with the Publicity Officer to ensure all UMM activities are publicized. D. Treasurer: Collects, disburses, records and reports status of all funds. Approval for disbursement of funds shall be granted by the President or Vice President. A financial report shall be made at all meetings of the UMM. E. Publicity Officer: Appointed by the President. Works with each activity leader and the church staff to publicize men’s ministry events. Includes bulletin and First Light announcements; flyers for bulletin boards, welcome stations, and Wednesday night dinners; special event slides for worship services, and arranging someone to take photographs for selected events. |
| Article III | UMM Committees A. Leadership Recruitment Team (LRT): A small committee of church leaders selected to identify men who are ready, willing and able to serve as leaders and helpers in the Men’s Ministry. The LRT will also serve as the UMM Nominating Committee in preparation for annual elections. B. Ad-Hoc Committees: Committees may be designated by elected officers to administer various UMM programs, activities and special events. They may be standing or temporary committees. The leader of each ad-hoc committee will report to the UMM officers. |
| Article IV | Regular Meetings: Regular meetings of the Niceville FUMC Unit of UMM will normally be held during February, May, August and November at a place and time to be determined by the President (reference Constitution, Article VIII). |
| Article V | Voting Procedures: Voting in an election for officers shall be by general acclamation unless the EB determines secret ballot is required. Voting on all other matters at GMC or EB meetings shall be by voice vote or show of hands. |
| Article VI | Vacancy: When a vacancy occurs in an office or a committee, it shall be filled by the President in consultation with other elected officers. |
| Article VII | Amendments: The by-laws may be amended at any UMM meeting and will be submitted to the membership for approval at the annual meeting. Interim by-law changes may be approved by elected officers – in this case the Secretary will provide hard copies or email for review. Interim changes must be approved by a majority of elected officers. |
