Mission Statement

Playing in the tents/tunnelsWe believe that children are precious gifts from God and that parents have a great responsibility to train their “child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not turn from it.” (Proverbs 22:6, NIV).  Our mission is to provide a program for children where they can experience the love of Jesus Christ and begin to build a strong foundation for a meaningful relationship with God as they grow.

Our Mother's Day Out program is an outreach ministry of First United Methodist Church of Niceville.  We strive to help young children and families learn and develop as Jesus did: "in wisdom and in stature and in favor with God and men."  Luke 2:52.

Statement of Faith

As a ministry of First United Methodist Church our Statement of Faith is:

  • We believe the Bible to be the inspired, the only infallible, authoritative Word of God.
  • We believe that there is one God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
  • We believe in the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, in His Virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His death on a cross as a sacrifice for our sins, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father, and in His personal return in power and glory.
  • We believe that for a person to be saved from the condemnation of sin, he or she must experience a spiritual birth by personal faith in Jesus Christ as the Son of God.
  • We believe in the personal ministry of the Holy Spirit by whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a godly life.
  • We believe in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost; they that are saved are raised to life everlasting, and they that are lost are raised to judgment and condemnation.
  • We believe in the spiritual unity of believers in our Lord Jesus Christ made evident through the church which is called the "body of Christ"

Mother’s Day Out Discipline Procedures

Discipline is an on-going process. Methods are determined by the child's understanding and stage of development. Our teachers utilize redirection, positive reinforcement, and the occasional use of “time out” to resolve discipline problems. Teachers will have a positive discussion with a child about expected behavior when the “time out” period has been completed. Parents will be kept informed of their child’s progress and any repeated discipline issues that arise. At no time will a child be subjected to physical or emotional punishment, verbal abuse or humiliation. Should repeated discipline issues continue with any child, the MDO administration reserves the right to dismiss the child with approval from the Children’s Ministry office. Any major infractions such as physical bodily harm will result in an immediate dismissal. Tuition is not refunded for disciplinary dismissals.

Discipline is a necessary component of any healthy and successful life. Our goal is to help children learn self control. We believe children are best helped by a firm but gentle, calm, and consistent approach.
